World AIDS Day
December 1, 2020
The Community AIDS Action Group of South Central Indiana welcomes you to our World AIDS Day 2020 Event Page. This year’s theme is Global Solidarity, and Shared Responsibility.
As the CAAG president, I think about my responsibility in ending the HIV epidemic. So much stigma still exists around HIV that causes people to feel isolated and alone. This prevents people from getting tested and getting treatment for HIV. We are honored to share the exhibition “The Courage of Tom Fox”, courtesy of the Kinsey Institute, that captures Bloomington’s own Tom Fox and his battle with HIV during the 1980s. It gave me chills to view the pictures and hear the conversation, and I hope you will find it just as meaningful.
Tom Fox’s parents, Bob and Doris Fox, were fierce advocates for people living with HIV and did so much to break down stigma. Both of them passed away this year, and we wanted to honor their memory and advocacy. Thanks to Dennis Hill and Gerry Titus for memorializing these wonderful allies so beautifully. We also invite you to view the Names Project AIDS Memorial Quilt virtually to remember those loved and lost.
While it saddens us that we cannot light candles in person together this year to remember and celebrate our friends and family members, we invite you to comment with the names of those who have passed away from HIV/AIDS and a special note on our interactive wall.
With love and gratitude,
Kim Naeseth

In honor of those who have passed who I met through my work at Positive Link. You were loved and you are missed. There are unfortunately too many to list here but the numbers are decreasing. This is why we call it a day of both celebration and remembrance.
